Hello and welcome to my website! I’m Evan Petrosky, a Senior Data Scientist at Slingshot Aerospace and a theoretical particle physicist. At Slingshot, I build machine learning models for satellite maneuver detection, anomaly detection, and photometric fingerprinting. I earned my PhD from the University of Michigan in 2026, where I studied dark matter and physics beyond the Standard Model, and my undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University. I grew up in Western Massachusetts.
I am curious about a lot of things and have broad interests. Lately, I have been enjoying learning about recent advances in machine learning, quantum computing, and quantum information (see my quantum computing notes). For an overview of my technical background, see Skills & Code.
Beyond work and research, I am passionate about community building, health, and wellbeing. I love sketch comedy, satire, musical theater, and word games, including the VWLS word games designed by my uncle and cousin.
