Community

Throughout my time in grad school, I was one of the leaders of the University of Michigan Physics Department’s Community, Outreach, and Wellbeing Committee. I also served on the department’s Grad Council and as a sustainability champion for the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA).

Key Initiatives

Here is a list of a few initiatives that I have been involved in:

• Led an interdepartmental networking organization with 250+ members from 30+ departments
• Helped organize and run graduate student recruitment
• Led an initiative to recognize the unsung heroes of the physics department (i.e. all the staff members who do the behind-the-scenes work that makes the department function)
• Organized a summer seminar series for grad students
• Facilitated dialogues on contentious topics amid a shifting policy landscape; navigated diverse perspectives and fostered constructive conversations that built consensus
• Managed communications to the 500-member department for one year
• Organized a physics song-parody contest

Volunteering

I was a sibling camper many years ago at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, and I am so thankful for the support that Camp provided to me and my family. Each year, I go back and volunteer to support families in a similar situation.
